Oil paintings

Working intuitively, I layer the paint to achieve the subtlety of colours which reflect the true beauty of the landscape. A sense of glow for the land and sky essential before a painting can be deemed fully finished. The work can often take several months to complete, changing and evolving over time, just as the landscape changes throughout the seasons.

My aim is to make the viewer feel as if they are standing within the landscape. Exaggerating colours to achieve a sense of drama and place is more important to me than a true representation of what is seen. The landscape of Lincolnshire is the place which informs my work, but when the work is seen could transport the viewer to anywhere in the world.
